I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

Windows updates may also include device driver updates from the manufacturer.

Yo dude! I uninstalled an external firewall, in this case Comodo Firewall.

Seems like it did the trick.

    Hello,

I'm having the same issue ever since I got a windows update.  But I was able to get it working after I uninstalled that days updates. I  went to the control panel, went to programs when that window pops up off to the left there is a link to " view installed updates".  A window will come up showing all the window updates your computer has had, choose the updates from the day that the issue started to accrue highlight them right click and uninstall them.  Reboot after all are uninstalled, this may take a few minutes and after it is rebooted it may also take a minute but it should work.

nothing else changed on my computer except that my touchscreen now works, thank god:)

    Hey guys

I was having the same problem wiith my S200e and i think i worked it out, i went to device manager and on the mouse and other pointing devices i opened the properties of my mouse device and i reversed the controler. After a reboot the touchscreen was working fine but the touchpad was a bit slow, i then went to mouse devices in the control pannel and ajusted the velocity of the mouse and it´s working great now.

I hope this will help someone else..
