No audio during playback in Movie Maker

I am finding a problem with my Windows Movie Maker, I have run my videos through Media player and Am certain the sound is just fine there, but when I put it on movie maker, No audio at all no game sounds or talking from me. Please any fix to this would be greatly appreciated.

This works for me in Windows 8.1 to fix this:

type "services" in the Windows search box

From the list of services, choose Windows Audio

Stop the service, then

Start the service

Sound now plays in Movie Maker.

    Bad codecs

    You may try fixing bad codecs if there are any by running **Microsoft FixIt tool** for codec. You can also use **MediaInfo** to determine any faulty on your codecs in your computer.

    I have struggled with this problem for many weeks.

    One solution which has worked for me.

    Convert file to WMV format and then use in Movie Maker.

    I use FreeMake Video Converter.

    I've found a solution not listed here.

    If you look in your apps on your computer, there is one called "DTS Sound". When you open it, it has an option to choose internal, headphones or external (shown with three different icons).

    You can either:

    1. Choose internal ie the computer looking icon, or
    2. Switch DTS Sound to OFF (click on the icon on the left that looks like a power button, when you click on to OFF, everything turns grey).

    For some reason, when DTS Sound is on, or set to something other than internal, the sound for my Movie Maker doesn't work. But as soon as it is off, it works perfectly. Sometimes my computer switches to headphones automatically, I don't know why!

    Only just found this out today, hope this helps!

    I have this problem right now with windows 8.1.  My files are .3GP files that should work.  Media player will not play this file, Quicktime will play the file and audio is there.  

    I've looked around for the DTS settings in the apps section of Windows 8.1 ... and I don't see it.  I also look at sound settings in the Windows accessories and don't see it.

    I'm using Windows movie maker(WMM) so I can rotate my phone movie clips...  I don't want to use VLC blah blah blah ... and I didn't know WMM was free ...

    Let me know if you any other solutions.  This Windows 8 is driving me nuts...
