This works for me in Windows 8.1 to fix this:
type "services" in the Windows search box
From the list of services, choose Windows Audio
Stop the service, then
Start the service
Sound now plays in Movie Maker.

I am finding a problem with my Windows Movie Maker, I have run my videos through Media player and Am certain the sound is just fine there, but when I put it on movie maker, No audio at all no game sounds or talking from me. Please any fix to this would be greatly appreciated.

Just because you can import them on to the computer doesn't mean they will automatically be compatible.
A video file is made up using a video compressor and also an audio compressor. CODEC
You need exactly the same codec on the pc as whatever made the video file used.
Then, hopefully it will work, but not always, as there literally are hundreds of thousands of codecs in use and sorry, but not all will work with movie maker.
where is the windows search bar?
Thanks a billion!!! You're a life safer =)
Brilliant! I really didn't think it would work, but it did!
