    This worked for me, so I'm passing it along hoping it helps others:

    in Control Panel, click on Devices and Printers.

    look for HID Touch Controller. If it has an error icon showing, right-click and let it fix/troubleshoot.

    it will then prompt you to enable the touch screen.

    I realize this may just be specific to my computer's issue but I hope it helps!

    I tried your suggestion above & after I click hardware & sound, there is no "pen & touch" option?  Really want my touch screen enabled again!!! other suggestions?  Thanks!!

    I'm using an Acer T272HL Touch monitor. It's a windows 8 compatible monitor, I hooked it up, the computer installed all the drivers for it. I went into the Control panel to enable touch and I can't find the pen and touch menu. It seems that it has just disappeared from my computer all together. Some help on this issue would be nice.

    I have a Lenovo touch lap top. The same thing happened to me and I could not find the pen and touch menu. I looked another method which said to hold the power button till it turned off then the touch would turn on on start up. I had restarted my computer prior to that at least twice and nothing.

    Just hold the power button.
