Your problem sounds similar to the one I've had and haven't been able to correct. My weather gadgets can't connect but in addition, I noticed my hearts program animation button is shaded which does not allow me to change the speed of the card movements.
Also, the other day, when I tried to load my Adobe reader to read a PDF file, I couldn't; a dialog box came up and notified me that it could not find the files. I checked them and they were fine. In addition, I uninstalled the Adobe reader and downloaded
it again and installed it -- the same dialog box came up when I tried to access it. Obviously, something in the operating system is amiss and I don't know what. I hate to have to try using the Microsoft repair cd that came with my computer since I fear I
will lose all my personal files and programs.
I bought two computers last year with Windows 7 (a desktop and a laptop). Everything appears to be working fine with the laptop even though I've installed the Microsoft updates the same as the desktop. In another post I made on this website, I mentioned
I hired a local "expert" to come over and fix my problem. He left after 2 hours and charging me $100 and accomplished nothing meaningful but pontificate how I shouldn't have Spybot on my computer with Microsoft Security Essentials since they will clash with
each other and thereupon uninstalled Microsoft Essentials. (I don't know about that but intend to find out more on this issue later.)
Where do we go from here? I think I'm going to try to restore my computer to last march period before all these things began going wrong. My other last-ditch effort will be to contact Microsoft Technical help and pay the $149 dollar fee for a year's technical
help, but what I've gathered here on this site is they weren't able to help either.
Anyone with any more ideas, let me know since I'm at my wits end on this problem.
