Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums where you can find answers to all your Windows related queries.

We can’t import contacts directly to the People app from a CSV file. However, if you visit http://people.live.com/ you can import the contacts through manage option. You can refer these steps:

a) Visit http://people.live.com/ and login with the same Microsoft ID that you have synced with the People app

b) Click on “Manage” on the top and click on “Add people”

c) Click on “import from a file”

d) Browse and import the CSV file from your computer

Note: It might take some time for the contacts to be updated in the People app in your computer.

    Just finished the task.  here the steps for transferring contacts:    (Samsung-Android  to Windows Phone)

    • Using KIES export contact files (.spb) to (.csv)
    • Using excel check the phone number column format (+59342856645)
    • using a GMAIL account import .csv to the contacts folder and make any adjustment.
    • export Gmail Contacts to a new .csv customized for Outlook.com (this is the ok file)
    • open your outlook.com account and import the previous .csv 

    now you can go to your windows phone and use the same outlook account to get all your contacts.

    To the Microsoft programmers, most email users have backed up their contacts in a csv file.  So why don’t you program win 10 people app so a user can simply import their contacts from a csv file.  Why make it so darn difficult????
