Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    Can you check and see if the same issue exists if you restart the computer in Safe Mode.

    This was indeed a good test but I just tried and the same problem is found under safe mode.

    Do you have another suggestion?

    I'm having the same problem with my Toshiba laptop running Windows 10.  I've uninstalled the CDROM drive device and re-booted several times, re-loaded the device driver several times, deleted Upper and Lower Filters, etc., and all to no avail.

    Please provide an alternate, and more successful solution to this problem.  I've been without my CDROM device for almost one month.
