Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    The fix is to uninstall Toshiba recovery media creator, the OS will now see all CD DVD  drives attached

    Hello auggy, could you be of assistance to me in my situation? The problem for me is the same as what is in this forum, but I went to the registry editor and to the place you said, but I can't find the upperfilters or the underfilters there. The problem for me not being able to find them might be because i'm running windows 10, so is there anyway you can help? I need this fix because my audio driver has this problem, and I can't hear anything. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my audio driver, so no luck with that.

    If there is anyway you could help, that would be great.

    Deleting the keys did the trick!  (both upper and lower filters).  CD/DVD back on re-boot.  Running Win7, 64bit.

    Thanks for the help!

    P.S. to everybody, don't forget to backup your registry before you start messing around with it :)
