Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    I have an Acer computer and I have an external dvd drive. The external dvd drive is from acer and my computer says this error "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete".

    I tried using the methods of looking at the registry and all that and also updated the gear software but the problem still remains.

    Thanks.

    Make sure to restart the computer after updating the Gear drive and then also unplug and then plug back in the external dvd drive.

    That didnt help though. Are there any other ways you could suggest with this problem?

    This acer cd dvd drive works fine in an older computer using vista. Are there any registry strings I have to change? I do know I have autoplay issues when plugging in thumbdrives as I do not have that autoplay message coming up when plugged.

    What I might is run the following registry file which will remove the UpperFilters value completely.

    Copy and paste the following into Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as fixcd.reg):

    First create a System Restore point then double-click the saved .reg file, add to the registry, and restart the computer.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]"UpperFilters"=-"LowerFilters"=-

    Afterwards if iTunes is installed and says it needs GEARAspi it should be safe to go ahead and install the Gear drivers:
