Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    OK;  here what I did;   I did go back and check the filters again and there were no filters entries despite having iTunes 11x installed.   So - after looking at other blogs, I moved iTunes from version 11x back to version 10.7.   The minute the uninstall of 11x finished I got back my CDROM and this message went away.  Interestingly enough, it never occurred when I put the 10.7 version on.  And the upper filter entry was put back into the registry after completion of iTunes 10.7.  So  as a further test, I went back and uninstalled 10.7 and put back 11x and sure enough the problem resurfaced.  So I am now using version 10.7 with no problems and have logged an issue with Apple against 11x. since it clearly has something to do with that version of iTunes for my environment.   Don't know if this would apply to any others on this blog, but it sure is my problem.

    How do I check the registry key?   I tried typing in the HKEY_LOCAL... into the Start Search but nothing came up at all.   I don't know where to look for the registry key, although I checked Program Files, etc.

    Click Start -> Run and type regedit.exe and hit OK

    Hi Osukaru69,

    Try removing the GEARAspiWDM entry.

    To remove the GEARAspiWDM entry double-click UpperFilters and, under Value data, remove GEARAspiWDM > OK

    Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, such as iTunes, just install the latest version of Gear drivers (4.020.5) and make no change to the registry:

    Updating the Gear drivers should also fix the error.
