Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    I have the same problem. It reads GEARAspiWDM under DATA for upperfilters...

    Hi Flossy,

    Try removing the GEARAspiWDM entry.

    To remove the GEARAspiWDM entry double-click UpperFilters and, under Value data, remove GEARAspiWDM > OK

    Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, such as iTunes, just install the latest version of Gear drivers (4.020.5) and make no change to the registry:

    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php

    Updating the Gear drivers should also fix the error.

    Had the same issue described in the other posts, with a brand new Lenovo desktop running Windows 8.  I didn't want to have trouble with iTunes, so I installed the latest version of the Gear drivers that you directed us to at http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php and the CD/DVD drive was immediately fixed.  Thanks for the help--didn't want to have to call customer support at Lenovo if I didn't have to.
