Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    Thanks. Had a similar error...trouble with Sound IDT High definition Codec.

    Deleted the upper registry. Worked!!

    Hi rupeshnamdev,

    First try removing the PxHelp20 value:

    Double-click Lowerfilters and, under Value data, remove PxHelp20 > OK

    Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer afterward.

    If the problem still exists then try removing the GEARAspiWDM entry:

    Double-click UpperFilters and, under Value data, remove GEARAspiWDM > OK

    Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, such as iTunes, just install the latest version of Gear drivers (4.020.5) and make no change to the registry:

    auggy, you are a life saver. Thanks so much. I was having this same issue after migrating to a slightly newer pc. I am pretty computer savvy, so was able to conquer most of the driver issues but this one had me stumped. Installed the Gear drivers and boom the DVD drive works now.

    Wow, thanks. I almost threw away my Blu-Ray drive. I thought it was broken. I was getting ready to order a new drive on Amazon before I decided to Google the error 19 message first and found this solution. Thank you so very much. You saved me a $70.

    Hi Charles.

    What was the UpperFilters value you deleted (What was under Value data that was removed)?

    That may make it easier to explain what may have happened in your case.

    The UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value(s) load filter drivers for a device.

    These filter drivers add functionality to software, such as CD/DVD burning software.

    If an UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value exists and there is no corresponding filter driver or a corrupted filter driver exists on the system then the error would occur.   

    This may happen when a software gets uninstalled leaving the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value(s) behind but removes the corresponding driver(s).
