Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    there is no upper or lower Filters registry entry in right pane.

    Very helpful thanks...but lets kust say ‘someone’ jumped the guna and deleted the whole ‘lowerfilters’ file. Is there anything we can do to get it back?

    I'm currently having the (nearly exact) same issue on a mini-desktop running Windows 10. It's a Lenova ThinkCentre.

    In "My PC," the DVD/CD drive does not show (only the local & recovery).

    In Device Manager, the Code 19 error code appears in the device status.

    I have updated the driver as well as uninstall the device & reboot to automatically re-install.

    Under "Details" tab, the Class Guid property is confirmed as {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. The following entries are present:

    (Default) - [blank]

    Class - CDROM

    ClassDesc - @%SystemRoot%\System32\StorProp.dll,-17001

    EnumPropPages32 - storprop.dll,DvdPropPageProvider

    IconPath - %SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,-30

    LastDeleteDate - ab 52 1d ae 0d a5 d3 01

    NoInstallClass - 1

    SilentInstall - 1

    Note: Upper/Lower Filters do not appear (nor have ever).

    Within {4d36e965b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}, UpperFilters data is kbdclass.

    Within {4d36e965f-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}, UpperFilters data is mouclass.

    I've checked the cables (it's an internal disk drive) & everything is plugged in w/ no sign of corrosion (it's basically a new machine). The device definitely has power to it... the green front light can blink & the disk can be felt spinning when initially loaded.

    Please... help?
