Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    This was indeed a good test but I just tried and the same problem is found under safe mode.

    Do you have another suggestion?

    Hello, 

    I have a similar issue with Windows 10 (upgraded from 8.1).

    Each time I connect a USB key or a smartcard reader in USB, it is not recognized with same error message.

    If I right click on the device in the device manager and uninstall it, the do a "scan for hardware changes" it solves the issue until I disconnect and reconnect the device.

    All drivers and windows updates are up to date.
