Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    Thank you, it worked perfectly for me. However, it's always a good idea for those who are about to try this workaround, do remember and backup the key before delete it as in my case, I had to put it back in recovery mode (cmd) for the windows to login properly. Anyway, thank you very much. Its working, CONFIRMED!

    Hi auggy,

    None of this has worked for me, when i went to delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters they weren't there!

    I am on an Alienware X51. Any help would be good thanks!

    Is the drive showing up in the Device manager at all?

    Also, what Operating System?

    Puzzled as to where you see the suggestion to delete the upper registry key.  I don't see any such suggestion.  Which key did you delete, and why?
