I had this problem and think I have found the cure. Open up the Nvidia Control Panel (probably bottom right tasks bar) left hand side of control panel click on Phys configurations, click on automatic and change to GForce (if this is what your computer runs) click apply - hopefully this may cure your problems. TDR is the Timeout, Detection, and Recoverycomponent in Windows. **** What happens is the Graphics Display driver for the installed graphics card stops responding. When this happens, windows will stop and restart the driver to fix the problem.
The most common reason for this issue is that the graphics device is being overloaded or used beyond its capabilities.
This happens most often when playing graphic intensive games, but can happen with any process that uses a large amount of graphic resources, such as when editing or creating videos.
Some things you can do to avoid these problems:
a. Make sure you are using the latest graphics device driver.
b. Manage your time working with programs that are graphic intensive, exit any other programs that might also use a large amount of resources.
I would suggest you to download and Install the latest graphic card drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.
You can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 8 compatible drivers.
Follow these steps:
a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
b) Type compatibility in the search box and then press enter.
c) Click “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” option from the list appeared in the left side.
d) Select the drivers and install.

It wont let me boot into safe mode ether including safe mode with cmd prompt and safe mode with networking. Btw computer is 64-Bit
It's not a matter of it not letting you go into safe mode or safe mode with command prompt, it is more what keystrokes the manufacturer of your computer has set up to allow you to enter the boot menu. You've not said what brand of computer, or model, yours is. Typically, you can repeatedly press F12 the moment before Windows starts to boot. But, your hardware might override this.
Is it UEFI or legacy BIOS? You might have to experiment with the F8, F10, or F12 keys to see if you can get to the menu to choose safe mode.
If, on the other hand, it literally isn't letting you get into Safe Mode, the only two other things it could be is that you are using Home Edition and you are trying to enter a password for the Administrator account when one is not needed, or your hardware is failing and causing it to reboot before you can get into the menu.
Typically, no graphics driver is loaded for the hardware that early. So if you cannot get past that video tdr failure error even in safe mode, your hardware is not long for this world.
You may even need a recovery drive for your system. I hope that you created one. If not, it should let you try to use automated recovery after three or four times failing to start properly. Once there, choose Advanced Options > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart. You should be able to use the keyboard to choose the safe mode option you wish to use at that point.
But I have no way of knowing anything else because I have no details regarding your system from which to make any further determinations. What would be helpful is if you could list the following:
1. Manufacturer
2. Model
3. Video graphics hardware type and model
4. OS version and edition
Also, if your system is a desktop, try carefully removing the video graphics card, cleaning it with compressed air as well as the socket, and then reseating the card. If you are uncomfortable doing this you should get someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you. Let us know what happens afterward.
If a laptop, ensure that the vents are not blocked by anything. A lot of people put their laptops on their beds and the bedding tends to block up the vents while they are using it. A system will let you get away with that for a while before it just won't let you do that anymore, once the hardware starts degrading from constant heating beyond spec.
Sometimes, just a little dust can mean the difference between receiving this error and not receiving it. A GPU under load will heat up quickly and if there is any blockage to ventilation or dust covering the heat sink, the processor will have troubles that potentially can manifest with this same error. Best to rule all that out, if at all possible.
When I installed new version of driver then it also failed. While updating my windows defender it occurs (vedio tdr faliour ) and my computer starts rebooting again and again. How to fix it helpme please.
