I had this problem and think I have found the cure. Open up the Nvidia Control Panel (probably bottom right tasks bar) left hand side of control panel click on Phys configurations, click on automatic and change to GForce (if this is what your computer runs) click apply - hopefully this may cure your problems. Based on the issue description, it appears that you are getting an error video tdr failure on the computer.
To guide you in the right direction, I need a few more information from the computer that has the issue. Please help me answer the following questions:
1. When do you get this error message?
2. Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

TDR is the Timeout, Detection, and Recoverycomponent in Windows. **** What happens is the Graphics Display driver for the installed graphics card stops responding. When this happens, windows will stop and restart the driver to fix the problem.
The most common reason for this issue is that the graphics device is being overloaded or used beyond its capabilities.
This happens most often when playing graphic intensive games, but can happen with any process that uses a large amount of graphic resources, such as when editing or creating videos.
Some things you can do to avoid these problems:
a. Make sure you are using the latest graphics device driver.
b. Manage your time working with programs that are graphic intensive, exit any other programs that might also use a large amount of resources.
I would suggest you to download and Install the latest graphic card drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.
You can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 8 compatible drivers.
Follow these steps:
a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
b) Type compatibility in the search box and then press enter.
c) Click “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” option from the list appeared in the left side.
d) Select the drivers and install.

They are on the utility partitions. You have to access them either from BIOS or from UEFI. Or, they should have been included with your system. If they aren't there now, it is because either you removed them or someone else did. Did you buy it new from Dell directly? If your system is a legally liensed system from Dell, you ask them how to use the utilities for your system, and if they are gone, ask them how to get them back. You may have to purchase a DVD or a CD from Dell. The CD or DVD should be labeled Dell Diagnostics if you still have them. They should have come with your system if they weren't installed into a utility partition.
As to installing, what you will have to do is to completely remove the driver from your system and then try downloading again. You may even be infected with malware if downloading is crashing all the time. In any case, remove the driver, and then, using Device Manager, uninstall the driver. In the dialog that pops up, be sure to check the option to delete the driver files off the hard drive. Then try downloading again. You also can try to download the drivers by going into Safe Mode with Networking or by disabling the Graphics Drivers before doing that. You get to those options by hitting F12 (on UEFI) or F8 (on BIOS) repeatedly just before the system boots to Windows to get to those options.
A clean installation is the complete removal and reinstallation of Windows. That isn't what you want to do necessarily if you can fix the driver issue first.
I get the same message, but m computer will not start up, so i can't seem to do anything to fix it. Can you help?
Is your system legacy BIOS or is it UEFI?
1a. If UEFI, press F12 repeatedly after turning on the machine until the Windows Boot menu comes up.
1b. If BIOS, iirc, F8 is the key you want to press repeatedly until the Windows Boot menu comes up.
2. Click or tap Troubleshoot.
3. Click or tap Advanced Options.
4. Click or tap See more recovery options.
5. Choose option 3) Enable low-resolution video.
6. When booted and logged into an administrative user, uninstall graphics drivers. Do not reboot if asked.
7. Make sure all files are removed by going to Device manager and uninstalling the driver. Make sure to check the option to remove the files from the hard disk before doing do.
8. Reboot. Now, download the latest drivers for your graphics hardware. Use only basic, default settings.
If you still can boot into your system after installing latest drivers, adjust one setting at a time, making sure with each change that you still can boot into the system normally. Make sure to keep notes of any settings you change in case you have to change them back. Also, check to ensure no thermal vents or heatsinks and heatsink fans are blocked or covered with dust.
