I had this problem and think I have found the cure. Open up the Nvidia Control Panel (probably bottom right tasks bar) left hand side of control panel click on Phys configurations, click on automatic and change to GForce (if this is what your computer runs) click apply - hopefully this may cure your problems. This happens most often when playing graphic intensive games, but can happen with any process that uses a large amount of graphic resources, such as when editing or creating videos.
Some things you can do to avoid these problems:
a. Make sure you are using the latest graphics device driver.
b. Manage your time working with programs that are graphic intensive, exit any other programs that might also use a large amount of resources.
I would suggest you to download and Install the latest graphic card drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.
You can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 8 compatible drivers.
Follow these steps:
a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
b) Type compatibility in the search box and then press enter.
c) Click “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” option from the list appeared in the left side.
d) Select the drivers and install.

I am Akshay and I am also facing the same issue since 1 year.
A year back I was playing a game and all of a sudden the PC shuts down by itself and starts to reboot.After some extent it stopped rebooting.
After that it showed me the error like video_tdr_failure.
I couldn't understand what that means .
Then checked about that and understood its a BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death). I am not that good to repair my laptop by myself ,so I checked with the official website for the cure to the nearby service center.
i gave my laptop and they didn't find the cure. How can the official partners provide such service,I was mesmerized. From then i somehow checked with youtube and ran the laptop without playing a single game and without downloading and installing any of the latest updates. yesterday somehow it got updated and Bang...! back to the same situation.
One thing which i understood was like whenever i update the driver it showed me this error and as you mentioned that the driver should all be the updated one.
Please check the exact reason and provide us the solution.
By the way my laptop is of DELL Inspiron 3521 and with AMD Radeon graphics and is of about 5 year Old

I am using a desktop computer with 4 GB of RAM. I have never opened my computer up before but after the blue screen the problem seemed to be solved.
