I had this problem and think I have found the cure. Open up the Nvidia Control Panel (probably bottom right tasks bar) left hand side of control panel click on Phys configurations, click on automatic and change to GForce (if this is what your computer runs) click apply - hopefully this may cure your problems. TDR is the Timeout, Detection, and Recoverycomponent in Windows. **** What happens is the Graphics Display driver for the installed graphics card stops responding. When this happens, windows will stop and restart the driver to fix the problem.
The most common reason for this issue is that the graphics device is being overloaded or used beyond its capabilities.
This happens most often when playing graphic intensive games, but can happen with any process that uses a large amount of graphic resources, such as when editing or creating videos.
Some things you can do to avoid these problems:
a. Make sure you are using the latest graphics device driver.
b. Manage your time working with programs that are graphic intensive, exit any other programs that might also use a large amount of resources.
I would suggest you to download and Install the latest graphic card drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.
You can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 8 compatible drivers.
Follow these steps:
a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
b) Type compatibility in the search box and then press enter.
c) Click “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” option from the list appeared in the left side.
d) Select the drivers and install.

I can not play videos on my computer without them stopping many times. Now when I sign in I am getting a stop code of Video TDR Failer.
I have the exact same problem on my HP Pavilion p6653w (with ATI Radeon HD 4200 Display Adapter) running Windows 10. The problem started immediately after update KB4038788 was installed and the problem always happens after the PC wakes up from Sleep mode. Upon uninstalling KB4038788, the PC returned to normal operation upon waking up from Sleep mode. The same problem manifests itself after installing KB4038788 and KB4041676. In every case, uninstalling the last three updates and returning the PC to KB4034676 restores normal operation after waking up from Sleep mode without a single instance of the "Video_TDR_Failure.
Additional Information:
PC is set up with dual monitors through the VGA and DVI ports.
I have uninstalled the Display Adapter and have reinstalled through the Windows Update function with no resolution to the behavior.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am having the same problem on my HP pavilion desktop.
Is your graphics card integrated or discrete? Intel, AMD, or Nvidia? Other?

Is it discrete, meaning removeable, or is it integrated, meaning built-in?
If removable, remove and reseat it in the slot, after blowing the dust from the slot. If your computer is full of dust, then clean and blow out all dust, including that covering your card or blocking air from circulating from the card's heatsink or heatsink fan. You should be cleaning dust from your computer about every six months or better. If you are not comfortable doing any of this yourself, ask someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you. See if the error returns. If not, you are good to go.
If you keep seeing it, it likely is caused by a file that did not properly upgrade at one point in the upgrade process, whether driver or Windows itself. In that case, you will need to remove the entire driver and allow Windows 10 to reinstall it after a reboot. It is best to do it from the uninstaller, and then from Device manager. If you do not have the AMD version of the driver installed, you just need to use Device manager to remove the driver completely, and then let Windows update reinstall the Microsoft version of the AMD drivers.
If that still does not work, you possibly may be having a hardware issue with your graphics card that was not made apparent until upgrading Windows 10. If so, eventually it would begin hitting you in Windows 7 as well.
