My laptop was working fine last night, however I left it on and unplugged and it died. This morning I am getting an endless loop of 'Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you' 

the message pops up for one second and then the VAIO logo reappears before the blue screen pops back for a second. This just goes on forever with no additional info. I can see an additional line appear on the blue screen every time just as it turns off so it is unreadable.

Help please?

more info: The percentage bar never goes past 0% It just pops up and immediately goes back to the VAIO screen.

Hi Wesley,

This issue could be due to system files corruption, I would suggest you to try performing automatic repair using Windows 8 disc from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and check if it helps.

To perform Automatic repair on Windows 8 computer follow these steps:

a.     Insert the media such as (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.

b.     Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

c.     Once the Windows Setup window appears, follow these steps:

d.     Click next and select Repair your computer.

e.     You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose. Choose the option Troubleshoot and select advanced options.

f.      You may choose Automatic Repair from Advanced boot option.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue.

    Did you tried those steps that I exposed here?

    "So, here is what I did:

    1. Turn on the laptop and keep pressing F2.
    2. BIOS: change the SATA OPERATION from smart response technology to AHCI

    Disable rapid storage Technology

    Disable secure boot

    1. Save and exit. The system will restart.
    2. Using an usb pendrive with windows 8 in it (you can use a cd/dvd too), choose the boot option (im my case, usb).
    3. Choose "restore computer".
    4. go to troubleshoot, then, advanced options.
    5. NOOOW i could RESTORE my laptop. It took a while and at the end it performed some uptades.

    Ah... when you finally got the laptop to work, it will show a REAL SLOW PERFORMANCE.

    don't worry... just do you backups (just to be sure), restart you computer, keep pressing F2 and change the BIOS setting to default.

    Save, exit, enjoy!"

     I tried to update My windows 8 to 8.1 but that message came out.

    Im using Ultrabook Samsung Serie 5 - I dont have any CD or USB installation

    What should I do ?? Please Help Meeeeeeeee

    I also got the same issue. I uninstalled windows 8 and installed windows 7. I raised a separate thread for the issue no solution.

    I couldn't get out of the (Blue Screen Of Death) BSOD screen (i had not desk top tray or anything else:

    "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.

    We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."

    Many computer problems are related to soft failures on the hard drive. The comprehensive portion of the HP Hard Drive Self Test repairs soft errors on the hard drive, but does not report the errors. After the test completes, be sure to restart the computer to determine if the test repaired any problems you are experiencing with your computer.

    1.       Plug the AC Adapter into the computer if it is not already connected.

    2.       Turn off the computer and wait 5 seconds.

    3.       Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.

    4.       Use the Right Arrow or Left Arrow keys to navigate through the menu selection to find the Primary Hard Drive Self Testoption. Depending on your BIOS, this may be found below Diagnostics or Tools .

    5.       Select Primary Hard Drive Self Test , and then press the Enter key to start the test.

    I got to the screen doing the F 10 key, but couldn't figure out how to get to the Primary Hard Drive Self Testoption

    I tried Again, and Again, trying to figure out how to run thing thing.

    Then i made a Mistake and pressed the F 11 Key [System Recovery] (after shutting the computer down, again, and waiting the 5 sec.) Then (selected my language), then Chose option (troubleshoot), then (Advanced options), then (Automatic Repair {Fix problems that keep Windows from loading}).

    Why i made the choices i did, i couldn't tell you {except that something from all the stuff i've been reading trying to get out of this mess somehow stuck).

    In (Advanced options) i had these choices:

    • System Restore - {Use a restore point recorded on your PC to restore Windows}
    • System Image Recovery - {Recover Windows using a specific system image file}
    • Automatic Repair {the choice i made} - {Fix problems that keep Windows from loading}
    • Command Prompt [which i had been trying to get to] - {Use the Command Prompt for advanced troubleshooting}
    • URFI Firmware Settings -  {Change settings in your PC's UEFI firmware}
