My laptop was working fine last night, however I left it on and unplugged and it died. This morning I am getting an endless loop of 'Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you' 

the message pops up for one second and then the VAIO logo reappears before the blue screen pops back for a second. This just goes on forever with no additional info. I can see an additional line appear on the blue screen every time just as it turns off so it is unreadable.

Help please?

more info: The percentage bar never goes past 0% It just pops up and immediately goes back to the VAIO screen.

Hi Wesley,

This issue could be due to system files corruption, I would suggest you to try performing automatic repair using Windows 8 disc from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and check if it helps.

To perform Automatic repair on Windows 8 computer follow these steps:

a.     Insert the media such as (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.

b.     Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

c.     Once the Windows Setup window appears, follow these steps:

d.     Click next and select Repair your computer.

e.     You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose. Choose the option Troubleshoot and select advanced options.

f.      You may choose Automatic Repair from Advanced boot option.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue.

    hi could you please expand number 2, for a computer noob like me i have no idea what to do

    My computer shows 6 options and none of them are BIOS; system information, system tests, component tests, filmware management, test logs, language, exit. how do we get to BIOS? and how do i change the sata operation

    I have a similar problem. My laptop keeps saying 'Error Info, We will restart PC now.', and it has been doing this since this morning. I downloaded Steam and a game from it yesterday night. It was working fine, but now it's just ticking me off. I can't seem to play the game without it restarting every 5 minutes after I launch the game... However, my laptop doesn't go in he 'Restart Loop' when I don't launch the game. The game I downloaded from Steam is Warframe. Is there a way to solve this problem without using a USB or Disc for Windows. I have already updated to Windows 8.1. Please help... :(

    none of my F keys are working to get me to the screen mentioned.

    Looks like you should be focusing on pressing F2 and looks like you would need to be fast doing it, from a full powered off state.

    Sounds like the USB stick is not bootable.  Then even though the BIOS might try starting there it would have to go on to try booting the broken OS on the hard drive.  It really does help to have a boot menu even if you only have one bootable partition.

    However, there is some new Voodoo that I have read a mention of.  Supposedly if you boot three times but don't let it get as far as you are getting, you may get a boot menu anyway.  Sounds like a kind of: "They might be booting trying to press F8 which we have engineered out of the product, so since this is about the 4th time they have tried that, let's take pity and give them a boot menu so they can try doing something in it, without having to reboot again so soon."
