Can't output sound to bluetooth speaker (JBL flip)

Hi there,

I have a JBL flip portable bluetooth speaker which works fine with my smartphone etc.  My laptop (Samsung, windows 7) connects with it and identifies it as a bluetooth headset, however I can't play any music through it at all.  The laptop doesn't recognize it as a "playback device" or a piece of hardware in the "sound" section of the control panel and I can't seem to get it to work at all.

Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Michael,

The issue could be caused in the Volume Settings, sound card or driver.

. Did you check the issue with different laptop?

Follow the methods below:

Method 1:

Try using the Playing Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems with your volume settings, your sound card or driver, and your speakers or headphones.

Tips for fixing common sound problems:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems

Method 2:

Try installing the drivers and check the status.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

Method 3:

After you've paired (connected) a Bluetooth enabled device with a Bluetooth enabled computer, you can change the name of the device or enable or disable services for it. You can also control how your computer pairs with this and with other Bluetooth enabled devices.

Change settings for a Bluetooth enabled device:

Hi guys, i see that a lot of people are still suffering from this difficulty, so...

    -------PROBLEM

       1. This answer assumes that you have reached the stage where you pair your (JBL portable) speaker to your Windows 7 PC - You see the device listed in the 'Bluetooth device' list with a yellow triangle/exclamation mark - Your system has informed you that a driver for new device has NOT installed properly and that it is unable to find the missing driver... Troubleshooting yields nothing.

    -------SOLUTION

       2.  In the Bluetooth device list right-click the JBL icon, left-click Properties and

then right-click the SERVICES tab (the 3rd tab in the Properties menu).

       3. Once the 'Bluetooth Services' tab is open, check  'Audio Sink' and uncheck everything else (for starters;  you can come back and experiment adding the hands-free service in case you feel brave and want to use this feature -not recommended).

       4. Your system will install the necessary driver and -magic- you're good to go. The JBL Flip3 icon clears and now you can control this Bluetooth connection. Right-click the icon, click 'Control' and connect/disconnect at your discretion!

       5. In case your system doesn't automatically enable Bluetooth audio, left click the speaker icon on your toolbar (or open Control Panel and click 'Sound" menu), right-click your Bluetooth device and click 'Set as default'. This way you can choose which sound device (analog, digital, bluetooth) is active at any time.

       Cheers.

In "devices" when you see JBL, look at properties and set a mark on the column for audio (third tab page) Then choose the device with right mouse click and "connect". This did the trick for me (Windows 7) maybe also Vista.
