Can't output sound to bluetooth speaker (JBL flip)

Hi there,

I have a JBL flip portable bluetooth speaker which works fine with my smartphone etc.  My laptop (Samsung, windows 7) connects with it and identifies it as a bluetooth headset, however I can't play any music through it at all.  The laptop doesn't recognize it as a "playback device" or a piece of hardware in the "sound" section of the control panel and I can't seem to get it to work at all.

Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Michael,

The issue could be caused in the Volume Settings, sound card or driver.

. Did you check the issue with different laptop?

Follow the methods below:

Method 1:

Try using the Playing Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems with your volume settings, your sound card or driver, and your speakers or headphones.

Tips for fixing common sound problems:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems

Method 2:

Try installing the drivers and check the status.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

Method 3:

After you've paired (connected) a Bluetooth enabled device with a Bluetooth enabled computer, you can change the name of the device or enable or disable services for it. You can also control how your computer pairs with this and with other Bluetooth enabled devices.

Change settings for a Bluetooth enabled device:

    Hi,

I encountered the same problem with my flip 2 on a lenovo computer under Windows 10

While browsing a few hours, my husband found a solution.

The driver of the Broadcom Bluetooth Module was not a date.

Unfortunately windows do not offer other.

We must go on the manufacturer's website

    https://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth

and download the latest version for windows 10.

I hope this will help you.

After much tinkering around, I managed to fix this.

The issue were that the drivers were not getting installed properly. I removed the device and added it again. Then it displayed the error message that some drivers were not installed and that the settings can be changed. Select that option - it will give you the option to "ask me  blah blah" or search for windows update for drivers automatically. Select that one. and click ok.

It will then search for a while and get all the drivers for jbl flip 2 and you can pair immediately. I did all this on a very old laptop running windows 7.

First: use actioncenter icon bottom right tray to activate bluetooth

If you don't see the icon, first right click on the taskbar and search in the settings for the tray to show actioncenter

your laptop/computer needs to have a bluetooth connector, you might not have the option (most modern laptops will have this option)

You can try to connect a device in acioncenter also

Be sure to push the bluetooth button on the JBL flip 3 until you hear a sound and see the device appear. It's above the +and - sign.

If this does not work you can visit the JBL site and download a HD.ZIP software file with support for different devices. It will guide you through connecting and you can upgrade the firmware. You need the usb cable for this.

    Hope this works.

    I solved the problem.

In order to install JBL Go in Windows 7 you need to install latest Intel Bluetooth drivers.

Just type Intel Bluetooth Drivers Windows 7 to Google and download latest version.

First uninstall JBL device first from system and run Intel installer. JBL will be recognized properly this time.

I spent few hours on that :)
