Music stops playing on MS Surface when screen turns off.

I have a Microsoft Surface. I have my mp3's in my default Music folder. When I play an album, a song will play but it will not play the next song if the screen has turned off. I always need to hit the power button again to turn the screen back on in order to play the next song. This makes this device useless as a music player as I have to turn it back on every few minutes. Often the song will start skipping as well when the screen turns off. This is for the Music app but also any other music playing apps I've tried such as Music Info. And please don't tell me this is by design. It is not by design. It's a bug. It would be nice to know when this will be resolved. Playing an MP3 is a basic function that should just work out of the box. It really can't be that hard. If a $30 mp3 player can do it I sure expect my $700 tablet to.

    Correct, everything completely updated. To provide more specific information on the issue, playback doesn't stop immediately after the screen goes black, but won't advance to the next song after the screen goes black. For example, if SongA is being played when the screen goes black, the music ap will not start playing SongB while the screen is black, even if SongB is the next song in the queue. As soon as I wake the Surface, SongB starts playing automatically, even if playback has been stopped between songs for 20 minutes. Ideally the expected behavior is that playback will continue uninterrupted between songs even when the Surface is put in standby, similar to how playback occurs on cell phone music aps.

    I've noticed that this playback interruption is not consistent, but almost always happens when the music ap has trouble connecting to the internet (despite playback on locally stored music, rather than streamed or cloud stored). In general the music ap has all sorts of problems, such as the inability to search local libraries.

    Similar yet different question. I use my Surface Pro 2 for all of my music. When I'm on a plane, I play a song, tap the power button to blacken the screen and the music stops. Is there a way for this to happen... similarly to how cell phones work. Even if I turn the brightness down to the lowest setting, not too many happy passengers on a 5 am flight.

    I have this same problem. As soon as my Surface 2's screen goes black, music playback stops. Playback resumes immediately after I wake it up, even without going into Music ap. Everything is up to date. This must be some software bug. Please fix.
