Since resolving an issue with my ATI Video Driver recently, I have started getting the following errors, once a day, which cause my system to restart unexpectedly.

I believe this to be a driver issue, even though it looks like a hardware issue.

When it happens, I am usually watching TV on it via my XBOX Media Center Extender.

Event ID 20 - WHEA-Logger

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Component: AMD Northbridge

Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error

Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

My Computer is a Dell XPS 7100 with an AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor and ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series graphics adaptor.

All Dell diagnostics run cleanly and successfully.

Can anyone advise what to do to investigate further please?

Currently in the process of figuring it out with the HP helpdesk. To my suprise, they are rather helpful :). They've done some suggestions and if those turn out to be the solution, I'll post back here.

    Hi,

in my case the video card was the cause: not happened ever since I sent it back to the e-shop where I bought it. It was a Sapphire R9 290.

    Good luck

Got the same thing, might be able to add some information.

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

    Component: AMD Northbridge

    Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error

    Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

Exact same error message. Only I'm on Windows 10 Home 64bit 1607 version (recently updated) with a brand new laptop:

    AMD A10-9600P Quad Core

    Ati Radeon R8 M445DX

    8GB DDR4 RAM

My trouble also started out of the blue. PC crashes, no BSOD, just reboot and then continues like nothing happens. Here is the minidump: https://we.tl/CtN5HbVioP

More notes: all display drivers up-to-date, so are all Windows updates.

I've seen some messages that this could be due to low voltage in the kernel, which would cause it to malfunction. The claim that this would be from overheating seems unplausible to me, as the PC is (literally) a week old. And I haven't been doing anything intensive for the hardware, yet.
