task manager not starting error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006"

I have been hearing the Fans speed up to medium and High speed when I am doing nothing that would require any heavy duty resources. I tried both control-alt-delete and  right clicking in the taskbar, and it fails to start up. "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application." I click on OK and it pops up again then I click on OK again and it goes away. 

I have run AVG and Spybot in safe mode with networking but nothing detected.... and have cleared my page file memory also.

Is it just corrupted or do I have a bug/virus.

That's good. What I meant is that in order for YOU to see the file, you need to be able to see hidden and system files. Windows however will see the file no matter if YOU can see it or not.

In autoruns I beleive you did not click on "options", then "Filter Options"

Make sure all boxes are cleared in "Filter Options".

Tommorrow I would like for you to delete the task manager in HP-infected. And copy the task manager from Dell2 to HP-infected. Just in case the task manager was infected and actually starting up the malware.

    Copy to Where?

    1- How to copy taskmgr and where do I copy to? Do I just right click on the taskmgr file, and select copy and paste it into a word doc or ?? Or do I drag it to a file somewhere??

    2- windows is installed on the c drive

    You can paste in your desktop, my documents, any where. Not in microsoft word. Somewhere where you have files.

    Using Windows Explorer, navigate to:

    c:\windows\system32

    Locate and right click the taskmgr.exe file. choose Copy, the click into an empty area in that window, then right click, Paste and you will see a:

    Copy of taskmgr.exe

    Right click 'Copy of taskmgr.exe' and Rename, and enter 'jose.exe' and press Enter.

    Now you have a jose.exe file, so double click that and see if Task Manager opens or you get the same error.

    Well I just tried copy and paste of taskmgr.exe, and it failed to paste, got error (with sound alarm) saying cannot .read from source file or disks.

    I just tried it again and when I pasted - (at the bottom of the file list, as you did not designate where to paste it) some letters appeared (maybe the pasted file) fir a brief second and dis appeared before I could read them.... so dar n close !

    Note I accidently copy and pasted the file just above taskmgr and was able to paste it at the bottom, and I noticed it was only 15kb instead of the 133kb for taskmgr. And I was able to change the name to jose. I have deleted the jose copy of 15kb,

    Edit 3 - I just tried it again - pasting it into another folder that I created and IT DOES Paste for 5 seconds - then the error with sound - Then majically Dis appears.... Too Sad ba humbug
