task manager not starting error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006"

I have been hearing the Fans speed up to medium and High speed when I am doing nothing that would require any heavy duty resources. I tried both control-alt-delete and  right clicking in the taskbar, and it fails to start up. "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application." I click on OK and it pops up again then I click on OK again and it goes away. 

I have run AVG and Spybot in safe mode with networking but nothing detected.... and have cleared my page file memory also.

Is it just corrupted or do I have a bug/virus.

That's good. What I meant is that in order for YOU to see the file, you need to be able to see hidden and system files. Windows however will see the file no matter if YOU can see it or not.

In autoruns I beleive you did not click on "options", then "Filter Options"

Make sure all boxes are cleared in "Filter Options".

Tommorrow I would like for you to delete the task manager in HP-infected. And copy the task manager from Dell2 to HP-infected. Just in case the task manager was infected and actually starting up the malware.

    I have a problem with the Dell2 as previously stated - the Avira anti virus (or a real virus) won't allow part of windows auto updates!!!  Most updates installed but the Malicious removal Tool file seems to get denied. When windows updates appeared - I said OK and it downloded them - (just like yesterday)  and when it comes to install or download the windows Malicious removal program. I get a pop up from Avira Antivirus saying it is a trojan that I described earlier with mrt extenion ! ! AviraAnti gives me 5 or 6 options,  1 - to remove  2- to rename  3- nothing- 4- move to quarntine   5 - Deny  and others..

    I have checked move to Quarintine twice and Deny once.  NOTE: AS SOON as I Deny or Move to Quarentine -  I get a real msft message that the Malicious removal tool did NOT install - so I am in a Loop. if I deny or move to Quarntine.  My thoughts is I am getting a false reading from avira and MAYBE  if I say yes to allow access - That I am NOT really giving access of the Trojan but giving access to the Malicious Removal tool.

    You both said this Long file with the  .mrt ext  was a known file.. I am thinking that file number is the Malicious Removal Tool File Number  and I am being tricked into NOT allowing it ! ! !??? But something is up

    Hello Capt,

    I've received the autoruns log. Have you tried copying a new task manager from Dell2 to HP yet and then attempting to open it?

    Based on the autoruns log, the text document I sent you with registry implementations did not work as all the keys that were supposed to be removed are still present. Did you get a pop-up saying that the data was successfully added to the registry after opening the file?

    Also you mentioned that your computer is bare now since it has no anti-malware protection, I myself do not use any programs of such, I haven't gotten any malware for about a year or two.

    I'll suggest you download this nice add-on for your internet browser called Web of Trust. Based on user ratings it warns you and puts red circles beside links that were rated unsafe. And green for those that were rated safe.

    OK SUCCESS so far ran the script and rebooted ok (although the A drive lit up) I have done all of below, Downloaded the uninstall programs and will run them in the morning. 

    GOOD Night and thanks.

    below is done:

    Part 1

    1. After you download the attached text document from the email,

    OPTIONAL: Check if the contents are the same as I posted on the forum if you wish.

    1. Change the extension of the document from ".txt" to ".reg"

    3)Double click the file to import it into the registry. You will get a prompt asking you if you want to add this information to the registry, click "yes".

    When finished, restart your computer. Your computer should start up much faster now.

    Part 2

    1. Please download the avg remover

    Open the exe file and uninstall avg.

    1. Please download the malwarebytes remover

    Open the exe file and uninstall malwarebytes.
