my windows 8 suddenly is running very slow, long time to load program

my laptop running win8 is very slow to load a program and once it has load it is extremely slow.

As per the query description, the computer is performing at a slow rate as it takes more time to load certain programs.

I would like to gather few information on this issue to help you better:

  1. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
  2. Is this issue specific to any particular program?

If the issue is not specific to any particular program, then, it could some other application or programs, which run at the background, resulting to the slow performance on the computer.

I would suggest you to perform System Maintenance troubleshooter on the computer and check if it fixes the issue.

You can follow the methods:

Method 1:

Please follow the steps to perform System maintenance check to improve performance of the computer:

a) Press Windows and x key together and select Control Panel.

b) Click on **Troubleshooting.**c) Click on View all on the left side panel.

d) Click on System Maintenance and follow the onscreen instructions.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to refer to the link to improve PC performance:

Important: Data available on bad sectors might be lost when chkdsk tries to repair your hard disc.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to boot the computer into Safe Mode and check if you experience slow performance.

    I had the same problem and tried a lot of things.  Check out your task manager, go to performance and see if anything is consuming way more than it should.  That's where I found that my mail (tile) was using up 17,000 + MB so I uninstalled it and my pc runs great.

    Nothing you suggested has worked. I have a brand new laptop with Windows 8. I am extremely disappointed with my experience of this new version of windows. Perhaps if I had a not required for business tablet them maybe I would use this. However I want my old windows back. this is a joke and a not user friendly version of OS. Nothing is intuitive and even your description on what to do was not easy to follow. 

    This is so slow I am about to take this useless windows 8 off and look for XP which seems to be faster and more intuitive

    This is a known issue to Microsoft. There is a program, I can't remember the name of it right now, that manages the live tiles and keeps them updated. When I finally got the task manager running that program was consuming 98% of the CPU and 1.5gig of memory. I uninstalled ALL the live tiles and my system is now functioning. The tiles are useless to be begin with you may want to try uninstalling them.

    check if u have a genuine windows 8 "activated". i had the same problem before i activated my windows :/ now it's working properly! :)
