Windows 8 BSOD System Service Exception

Probably not.

Win8 gives me BSOD usually as a result of bad drivers from my GPU. Even though those drivers are updated quite often, it still gives me BSOD when I do certain things. Don't expect it to be fixed.

My ASUS laptop goes to BSOD if:

I plug in a second monitor using an HDMI cable, and turn the second screen off BEFORE I unplug the HDMI cable, or;

I close the laptop screen and it goes into sleep-mode, unplug the HDMI cable and then wake the laptop.

These two instances will give me BSOD.

This is on a ASUS N56VZ - S4242H with a GT 650M GPU using the latest drivers, and it's been like this since october 2012.

The "fix" is of course to unplug the cable before I turn off the second screen, and not put the laptop into sleep mode with the HDMI plugged in.

My computer is just a few weeks old and has been working fine until today. I have gotten the blue screen of death many times today and each time it's said it has something to do with System_Service_Exception. If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

BSOD System Service Exception could also be due to having two anti virus , anti spyware or firewall programs running on your PC. For example if you are using AVG anti virus then make sure that Windows defender is turned off as AVG has anti spyware.

You should be able to turn off windows defender through control panel in classic mode (icons) .

Hello there,

Please try following steps see if it helps to resolve your problem:

1. Check none plug and play devices in device manger for danger sign by viewing them using view menu then show hidden devices then uninstall the ones with danger sign then restart your PC.
2. If you have AMD graphic card make sure that the software and driver are all up to date and restore all settings to default using CCC.

Also custom uninstalling CCC through Control Panel and leaving only the driver for the graphic card can help to fix the problem. (For your information I have done this)

For AMD If following happens to you then consider running the Fixit tool:

If you have different graphic card then restore all settings to defaults.

3. Disable all your start up programs (except your security software) and none-windows services (the ones which are not necessary) through msconfig (Make sure that you have only one antivirus program and firewall installed and running)
4. Uninstall any programs that you do not use and uses memory after start up like Vaio Care and Vaio Smart network in Vaio laptops.
5. Try a different anti virus program if you are currently using Avast. It is a very good anti virus program but it has compatibility issues with windows specially 64bits windows 7. I am currently using Comodo Firewall (Windows firewall is OK to use too) and antivirus .

Please note that there is no need to enable HIPS and Defence + feature if you do not install unknown programs.

Uninstalling Avast could also help to solve your problem.

6. Go to control panel then click on Ease of Access then click on change how your mouse works then in Make it easier to manage windows section, check both check boxes for activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse and Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen. Then click on Apply then OK!
7. Also consider disabling Aero peek to preview the desktop through Taskbar properties (right click on taskbar then go to properties)
