Windows 8 BSOD System Service Exception

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for saying exactly what I thought, and THANK YOU to everyone else who responded in this thread. I just got my laptop a week or two ago, and it was working fine (I mean, I absolutely abhor Windows 8 and cannot figure out how to do virtually anything on it but at least I wasn't having technical issues). Then I did a big Windows update and rebooted my computer. It crashed and rebooted. I thought, "Well, that's a one-off" and kept going. Until it crashed and rebooted again. And again. And again. And again. Do you know how hard it is to balance your checkbook if your computer keeps crashing every 15 minutes or so?!?!?!

I have an iPad (which is what I'm typing on right now) so I used it to Google the error message that I kept getting, so I could attempt to fix the problem. I found this thread and have just uninstalled the offending Microsoft update.

All I can say is, if I had the money, I would downgrade to Windows 7 so fast, I'd get whiplash from the speed. ;-) Even better, I'd love to upgrade to a Mac!!! I absolutely adore my iPad and iPhone. Next time I get a new laptop, I'm going for an iMac. Forget this.

Same problem here as well my HP is only about 2 months old had BSOD come up for first time 4 days ago since then has come up 4 more time usually just moments after start-up is getting annoying

I am having the same issue for almost 2 months I have a Toshiba satellite c850d have no clue what causes this and I am very disappointed it keeps happening . this needs a fix

Same machine same problem.  Running Symantec Endpoint.   Knocks the Wi FI off as well after reboot (no wifi available despite other devices still connected to home WI FI)

But, SFC will only find Wndows problems that are due to corrupted files, right?

I am not sure, what else it does.... but yes it does check for corrupted or missing files in Windows system files and it tries to fix them by replacing the older version of the file or if it can not repair then it will let you know that there are some problems that could not be fixed. 

 

Corrupted files in windows can also cause windows crash and slow it down ... so it is a good idea to check once a month if you install unknown programs or surf web alot.

 

For this particular problem, it looks like the problem is caused by windows update... therefore the sensible thing to do is to uninstall any recent updates or use system restore to go back if you know which one caused the problem.

 

Also note that uninstalling updates might fix the problem problem but I personally think is that you have make sure that is not caused by third party software in first place otherwise you will face problems in updating your system later. 

 

Uninstall unused third party programs installed on your new pc, get rid of unused toolbars, any other software like Sonic player on vaio computers, bing toolbar, evernote, etc. if you don't use them why keep them, just get rid of them.

You make some valid points, but if I were to run SFC and get a 'no corrupted or missing files' result, that clearly does not absolve Windows as the culprit.

Hi there.. I am having this problem too. I bought a computer just before Xmas and had to take that one back 2 days later because Windows 8 was faulty and wouldn't work properly. The techs said it would take too long to find the problem and gave me a replacement. This laptop is no better really even though I have managed for 2 months now!!! This error doesn't give any proper indication as to the real root of the problem and despite following all the recommendations and advice and methods I still have the blue screen :( error message.. Any other product that was giving this much grief to people would have been taken off the market or at least TESTED properly BEFORE it was released.. TOO QUICK and FLAWED FLAWED FLAWED... why do the updates threaten to put things off too?.. come on... we paid a lot of money for a machine that doesn't function properly from the first few days we have it... my win XP computer only crashed after 8 years!!!!!! Very very unhappy..

Mine is going back to the shop!!
