Windows 8 BSOD System Service Exception

I went to hidden devices and could not find anything labeled "non plug and play drivers" or anything like that. I don't have AVG. I ran the "diagnose my computer's memory problem" it came back with no problems. I haven't run SFC.

I get that it might be something else besides the 2778344 update, except, it seems many of the people with the blue screen error have new computers with windows 8 and the problem started after installing updates. I don't think I should have to download a bunch of programs to scan for spyware and malware and systems cleaners and run diagnostics on a computer I just purchased.

*I'm just saying, Microsoft needs to investigate.

Well, I am not from Microsoft, but this is all I know for fixing this type of problems. You should be able to find non plug and play drivers in device manager after viewing hidden devices from view menu unless it is different in windows 8 because I have Windows 7. You have to look for drivers with danger sign! then uninstall or update them to fix them.

Definitely consider running System File Checker. After you ran it then you will need to restart for it to take effect.

If your PC is brand new and you have not surfed web a lot or installed anything, then you are less likely infected. If it is still under warranty, why not just contact the manufacturer and ask them for help! Tell them you have not done anything with your pc and it is crashing after updating it!

One question do you know the name of the driver causing the crash? it normally tells you on blue screen, something named drivername.sys  , do you know what is the driver name? This could help to find a better solution!

Uninstalling update might help to fix your problem, but later on some updates won't install or can cause crash again if this update is not installed!!

Do you really think that it's a coincidence that this many people got this specific BSOD on their different machines, some barely a week old, with different hardware/software, different brands, different drivers... with the exact symptoms, all in the same time frame?

Is it coincidence that after uninstalling the update, people have no BSOD?  

Faulty drivers, faulty hardware and viruses are the first things come to mind when people have BSOD, but they are definitely not the case here.

The update is the problem.

And, if you can do something to fix the problem yourself, do it instead of contacting the manufacturer. Honestly, what can they do for you? They're clueless. At best, they will just exchange your perfectly fine machine with another perfectly fine machine, only to have it BSOD again after installing the update. And you will have to go through all the trouble of contacting them, explaining the situation to them, sending your machine over, receiving the new one, reinstalling everything...

hey! im not commuter savvy and im 15 (sad, right?)... so all of your steps made no sense to me.  why does windows 8 have to be so complicated?... anyways, is there anything else I can do? or can you re-word it at all? thanks.

Uninstall KB2778344 thats it. Cant get any simpler or easier than that

I agree!  The update this week gave me non-stop BSOD with the service system exception.  I restored to an earlier version of windows and no issue!  So now I turned off automatic updates until Microsoft gets this issue fixed.

Microsoft's own update was my issue!!  BOO!
