Windows 8 BSOD System Service Exception

I so agree with you this is getting ridiculous here we just started having the issues yesterday on our week old computer after it restarted to do a Microsoft update. now sitting here trying to fix it without having to factory restore it and then hope it does not happen again.  And then worrying that it might happen on my brand new HP laptop as well.  They so need to fix this and stop ignoring us all and our issues, windows 8 is nice and I like it but would like it alot more with out this issue:(

I've only had this Gateway computer with Windows 8 for a little over a week. I first started seeing the blue screen with and service system exception error the first time I installed updates. This morning after I turned on my computer several more updates installed resulting in the same error, only much worse, making the computer nearly unusable.

I uninstalled 2795944 and another update from the list with no results.

I skipped to 2778344 and so far, success!

 I have disabled automatic updates.

Microsoft needs to fix this, it is unacceptable.

But, SFC will only find Wndows problems that are due to corrupted files, right?

Chinhodado -- I haven't used it too much yet, but no crashes yet and I have been on two websites with Internet Explorer. I have uninstalled the list that was suggested and disabled automatic updates, but my computer, every time I "wake it up" from screensaver mode, is telling me I need to install updates. I am guessing those are the updates I uninstalled...or maybe there are new updates? I chose the option to download them but not install them. So, going forward, I am wondering how I will know which updates to install, if any. (And where to find them, but probably another thing to google.) Glad I found this forum! Thanks.

Ok, so it seems 2778344 is the culprit.

I would strongly suggest anyone having this BSOD to uninstall update 2778344 first to see if the problem goes away.

@Caroline: I guess it's telling you to install the updates that you have uninstalled, and maybe definition update for Windows Defender. As far as I know, there have been no other updates (security, etc...) yet.

You can still turn on automatic update but leaving out the uninstalled ones by doing this:

• Go to Control Panel -> System and security -> Windows update
• Click on  "<number> important update is available". You will see the updates that you have uninstalled there.
• Right-click on each of those updates (those that you have uninstalled and don't want Windows to remind you about installing them again) and click Hide update
• Now you can enable automatic update again, and it won't install those that you have uninstalled.

Also, as garys and tgirlintexas have pointed out, the culprit maybe 2778344 only, so perhaps you would want to reinstall the other updates again. I haven't tested it though.
