What is going on with Windows Store? 'Sorry, this app is no longer available' KB2862768 August update Bug

Please see the attached GIF/video to see what I'm talking about.. In the last few days with no changes

made to my PC I've seen the 'Sorry, this app is no longer available' Error, and it is some kind of Bug

because I can get the app to appear using the method seen in the video

So, whats up with the Store? Is something broken on either Microsoft's end or my own? Is anyone else

having this issue. Mostly this happens when I click links to apps on External sites like WinBeta or

Neowin etc tho I have seen it happen Searching for apps in the Store app itself. To reproduce find

an external link to an app .. click it, if the Store finds the app without issue close the Store app without

returning to the Store(Home) section. Find another app link and click it

I've just been waiting for a Fix to come along Server side.. as I'm fairly sure I did not change anything,

Store had been working fine for the most part since Win8 Launch

For anyone still paying attention to this KB problem, after installing ALL other updates for this Patch Tuesday 10 Sept 13(all installed without issue), I went back and restored KB2862768 which I believe initially was Optional, it is now marked as Important

So I've now got KB2862768 installed and this Windows Store issue seems to be gone, I assume

Msft has now fixed this issue, I have every update available installed both optional and important etc

    Don't do that (i.e., hide KB2862768 & move on with your life).

    Um, it's a bug breaking the Windows Store, which you would think kind of matters to Microsoft, no? Saying this achieves absolute zilch, because no other solution has been offered. And I'm not too sure why a customer should have to pay to report a bug.

    Just to add one more data point: I have had the same issue roughly since the week of Aug 12. This is on an x86 Samsung Ativ 500T tablet (Atom). 

    Edit: yes, I did install optional update KB2862768 on Aug 16 because it contained many important sounding goodies. I hope the problem can be tracked down without having to uninstall this update.

    Edit 2:  great, uninstalling that update indeed fixed the problem. Major props to dingl for tracking this down! Next let's hope MS finds the actual cause of the problem, because that update sounded reasonably useful. In fact, I'm not sure why it was 'optional' given the list of fixes in it.

    Glad it helped Joseph, yes hopefully someone from Msft has a look at this soon

    100% reproducible steps on both my Surface Pro and Windows 8 Desktop

    Neither has ever had the 8.1 preview installed. It can be any app, including inbox apps or third party apps. This will happen when searching for an app as shown below or from any store or email link. I am using a web search to clearly illustrate. Does not matter if Bing or Google. This issue disappears if the mentioned KB is uninstalled.

    1. search for an app. example Microsoft finance Windows 8 app

    1. search will find the app on apps.microsoft.com. then select that link

    3.  The apps.microsoft.com page opens to that app which has the standard View in the Store button. Select the View in Store button

    1. Windows Store opens and displays Sorry not available. CLOSE the windows store (wipes down on tablet, pull down with mouse on desktop)

    5, Open the Store and search for Finance. Immediately found. Select the App

     

    1. App opens normally in Window Store

    I have exactly the same problem.

    An another way to reproduce this problem is:

    1. Run any app.
    2. Open Charm.
    3. Click 'Settings'.
    4. Click 'Rate and Review'.
    5. On the form, click 'Cancel'.
