Hi,
I would like to know what the situation with Silverlight and Windows 8 RT. All the information out there seems to point to Windows 8 RT not supporting Silverlight, is this a permanent decision?
Consequently, a number of services that require Silverlight such as LOVEFILM are now inaccessible on Windows 8 RT. What is Microsoft's plan to fix this? Does Microsoft expect these services to ditch Silverlight in favour of a HTML5/Javascript?

Windows 8 Silverlight is compatible with the desktop version of IE but not with the IE 10 app.

I am running IE in the desktop mode on Windows RT and I am unable to watch shows that require Silverlight. I am told I need Silverlight and if I try to install it I get an error that apps cannot be installed outside of the Windows Store.
Sorry, but add-ons/plug-ins aren't supported on Windows RT (desktop or metro IE). There is limited Flash support - so maybe Microsoft could build support into the browser as they did for Flash? That said, I don't know the future of Silverlight (there are rumors of it going away). Perhaps its future depends on the popularity of Html5. ??

Silverlight does not work on Surface with Windows RT and it does not work on Nokia Lumia phones with Windows phone 8. Using these devices for business with Conference calls via Lync causes a grave problem: If Lync invites are copy pasted into a meeting invite instead of being created using lync/outlook you cannot join a lync meeting. A major percentage of the meetings in the real world are setup like this. This fact renders both devices as unusable for business.

Really? All my Lync invites are via an Outlook appt, so I can use the Lync app on Windows RT or Windows Phone.

p.s. Thinking about this more - I think when I used the link in the past with Lync installed on my Surface, I was asked if I wanted to use the Lync app instead.
