I can't update my Windows 8 Apps in start screen. Tried all steps and get stuck on this DISM Command. The /scanhealth completed successfully though but this /restorehealth didn't. It says DISM Failed. No Operation Was Performed. For More Information, Please Review the Log File.

Hi,

As per the description provided I understand that you are unable to perform app update, it would be grateful if you can reply to this question in order to assist you further.

·         Have you made any changes to the computer to this issue?

This problem may occur if the Windows Update database is corrupted. I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run the Windows update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

b) Type troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.

c) Select Troubleshooting. Click on view all and select Windows Update and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2:

You may disable the Proxy setting and check if it helps:

a. Follow these steps and check if it helps.

a. **** Press Windows Key +R, typeinetcpl.cpl and press enter.

b. **** Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

c. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.

d. Click Ok.

Method 3:

  1. Type Notepad on start screen, and press enter.
  2. Copy the following text, and then paste the text into Notepad.

net stop wuauserv

cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution

ren Download Download.old

net start wuauserv

net stop bits

net start bits

net stop cryptsvc

cd %systemroot%\system32

ren catroot2 catroot2old

net start cryptsvc

  1. Click File, click Save As, and then type Repair.bat.
  2. In the Save as type box, click All Files.
  3. In the Save in box, click Desktop, and then click Save.
  4. On the File menu, click Exit.
  5. Double-click the Repair.bat file that you saved in step 5.

Try to install the updates again. If you can install the updates, delete the Repair.bat file. To do this, right-click Repair.bat, click Delete, and then click Yes.

    I found this worked for me:

    Open an elevated command prompt, right click and select open as administrator.

    While still in the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter. 

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    While still in the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

     Exit command prompt and do a restart after you have restarted Open elevated command prompt. 

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Here's my problem. how do I get to the Administrator area to use these Command Prompts? Im using Windows 8.1......ok

    Go to search type CMD

    Right on the command prompt

    In the dropdown click on Run as administrator

    A window will pop up click on yes

    Now you will be able to make the entries. Follow the instruction I sent.

    The first DISM script will clean up the files, the second DISM script will restore the files then do a restart your computer and run the last DISM script. You should be good to go.
