You're getting error 0x800f0906 because you have KB3022345 installed. Uninstall it by going to Programs and Features in Control Panel and then click the link to "View installed updates".
In the Search box top right, copy/paste (or type) KB3022345 and when it appears in the list, right click it and choose Uninstall.

Most new machines come with a recovery partition allowing you to go back to the time of purchase, you will have to check your user guides (or the manufacturer's Web Site) for instructions. Choosing that path requires you to save all valuable data first.

I don't have this update installed and still getting sfc errors and dism source files not found. It really is an unholy mess.
Thanks for the detailed outline. I followed the steps and it didn't work; and I kept getting errors and the DISM failed multiple times. After more analysis and scanning I found that I had too many bad sectors on the hard drive, which I'm guessing was the reason the process failed. A new HD and a fresh install did the trick..

Even with in a elevated prompt with wusa it tells me that it cannot uninstall this because it is needed for my computer! So your solution can not work :-(
Could you please post the exact error message you're seeing without paraphasing please.
