Original Title: I have hp laserjet 1020 plus printer installed on win 7 it was a share printer when i was giving any print from win8 pc printer is going to offline & when i remove & add printer its working

i was installed win8 latest  drivers on all pc

I would like you to add few information:

Did you make any hardware or software changes on the computer prior to this issue?

I would suggest you to make sure that all the cables for the printer are connected properly and the printer is turned ON. Sometimes, offline status for a printer could be due no power to the printer.You also need to make sure that network sharing might be turned off.

If all the basic settings are checked and are up to the mark, you can follow the methods to troubleshoot the issue:

Method 1:

Method 2:

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the printer.

You can follow the steps to do so:

Note: Please make sure that you have the setup file for the driver of the printer before uninstalling the current version.

a) Press Windows and x key together and click on Device Manager.

b) Locate the printer driver and expand the driver icon.

c) Right click on the driver icon and click on Uninstall.

d) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver.

e) Locate the setup file of the driver for the printer.

f) Double Click on the setup file and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall the driver.

Check if you are able to find the printer online.

    It is possible that the issue is causing due to print spooler service.

    Please refer to suggestions from Karthik Vengaloor replied on October 31, 2013 and check if it helps.

    Hi John.  What operating system is running on the machine sharing the printer? 

    One of the threads from the Server forums had the same complaint. 

    There must be some network configuration component to this issue since MS 8.1 clients on the main Microsoft campus did not experience the problem but most of the remote sites did.

    I assume at this point, the connection will start working again if you stop and start the print spooler service.

    The printer is an HP Photosmart 5510, which is a wireless printer.  I have it hooked up to a Windows 7 PC, but am not printing through that PC.

    That's a network bug in Windows 8.1.  It will impact stuff other than printers.  There is a patch for the network issue but I can't find it right now.

    Basically when you went from a Home or Work network to a Public network, Network discover gets disabled and never get enabled again when you reconnect back to the Home or Work network.

    Open the Network and Sharing Center, Advanced sharing settings, Home or Work (current profile).

    Enable the "Turn on network discovery" button.

    The other patch I referenced was for the spooler reconnecting to a shared printer.
