How do you turn off Fullscreen mode in Windows 8?

Despite all of the annoyances of Windows 8, I must say, the random "switching to fullscreen mode" is the most aggravating. . I thought I turned off full screen mode, but it keeps doing that fullscreen.... thing. It's done it -at least- 5 times while I typed this.

    No I'm very clear on what an interface is.  I use Linux and I'm used to my choice of Desktop Environments.  The issue is here is that there are apps which only run in dog **** mode.

    And on top of that WTF is up with winRT?  I'm glad I didn't invest a lot of time learning .NET.  It's only a matter of time before it's replaced.

    .NET isn't going anywhere. I don't know why you think it would go anywhere.

    A)  .net  wasn't developed by the OS team and they hate it.

    B)  MS has spent a significant amount of time as of late talking about the rebirth of C++

    By "app" I assume you mean one of those Windows-8-specific programs
    that run when you click on a tile.

    Since you hate Windows 8 and the modern/metro interface, why would
    even consider running one of those Windows-8-specific programs? If you
    simply run in the desktop interface, you won't see their tiles, and
    don't need to. As far as I'm concerned, it makes no sense to hate
    Windows 8 on the one hand, but on the other hand, to want to run the
    tile-based Windows-8-specific programs that come with it

    However, if you want to, you can run those tile-programs with the
    desktop interface. You can use the $4.99 ModernMix at
    http://www.stardock.com/products/modernmix/
    Yes, you have to buy it, but it also is inexpensive. I don't do this,
    because I don't want to run any of those programs, but it's available
    for those who want it.
