How do you turn off Fullscreen mode in Windows 8?

Despite all of the annoyances of Windows 8, I must say, the random "switching to fullscreen mode" is the most aggravating. . I thought I turned off full screen mode, but it keeps doing that fullscreen.... thing. It's done it -at least- 5 times while I typed this.

    No, I'm not telling you anything like that at all. First of all, as
    far as I'm concerned, it's usable as it is, right out of the box. I
    know several people who use it like that and like it; some of them
    like and use the Modern/Metro interface (which I don't), and others
    prefer and use the desktop interface, not modified with something like
    Classic Shell or Start8.

    Second, what I was suggested was what I consider to be a way to
    improve it, not to make it usable.

    Third, I recommended two pieces of software to improve it, and stated
    that both were very good. And one of those pieces of software is
    completely free.
    Fourth, to me $4.99 is a small-enough cost that, since I consider
    Start8 to be a little better than Classic Shell, I recommend it to
    anyone willing to spend that small amount.

    And last, we may be very different, but my experience with every
    version of Windows (and I've run almost all of them, starting with
    2.0) is that I have added many pieces of third-party software to make
    improvements to it. Some of this software was free, and some I bought.
    And I can't remember ever before buying anything as inexpensive as
    $4.99.

    Fact is, at this point unless you're playing a DirectX only game, you're a fool to continue to buy Microsoft Products.  Debian based distros such as Ubuntu and Linux Mint give users the same feel that they're used to from earlier, useful, versions of Windows.  On top of that you can get an Office product FOR FREE which is getting pretty damn close to being better than Microsoft Office for Word, Spreadsheets and Power Point.  And hell even if you do like the god forsaken Windows 8 interface, you can configure Linux to run something similar.

    I'll give my vote for Linux, specifically Ubuntu, which I like much better than the dog **** you have to buy from Microsoft.  And it's free!
