Can I undo a refresh on windows 8, I have no restore points but would like to go back 24hours?

I've recently got a new computer with Windows 8, I was having trouble with it and decided to refresh to clean up all the bits and pieces I'd added to start again. The windows office package was installed recently by partner before he went away as he bought two licences and it has now gone.

Can I undo the refresh in any way? I have tried and tried but it seems there were no restore points. Very grateful for any advice as have just managed to get some work for first time this year and need word, excel etc.

@Shawn yes make the users wrong for not understanding Windows 8's arcane messages. Microsoft can do no wrong (sarcasm.)

No restore points = no going back. I don't think that you can go back anyway, certainly there is no easy way.

Your other stuff will have to be re-installed..

If you are going to need Refresh in the future, make a CUSTOM Refresh image that better reflects what is installed and running. The new image is not perfect but better than the default Refresh..

There is a warning that apps, programs and applications will be wiped..

You can make a custom refresh..

I did this, and while 'recovering' from it was not exactly easy, it was better than having to start completely over.

The worst side effect was that while the 'desktop side was recoverable, it almost totally cobbled the Modern UI to the point where there was no point in having it.

I am devastated - windows 8 - Rubbish. Refresh should be REMOVED its ruined my laptop. I used it for a minor glitch n now NOTHING is left on my PC. I am appalled this is possible without serious warning of the consequences. Next pc will be an apple.

My wife has just carried this out to her PC.

The kids had played with it and left the screen set 90 degrees out, she thought that RESET would cure it - nope!

Her office is all gone, her contacts gone, her business accounts gone, jeepers, how can it look so innocent and yet be so devastating to the pc?

I'm setting her account to not being an administrator from now on, will that stop access to this option?
