Method 2 worked great !
A process called Service Host: Local System is using up all of my laptops resources
My laptop has been running very slowly for the past few days which is weird because my laptop is quite powerful and has always run very fast. I looked at my task manager and saw that a process called Service Host: Local System was using up almost all of my RAM. I am running Windows 8 Pro on a Sony VAIO S13P. What can I do to fix this problem?

2013-11-20T19:58:54+00:00 I had the same problem... for me it was Dragon Naturally Speaking, uninstalled it and everything went back to normal... it might not have been the program itself but im thinking the service it was using to check for updates or something

2013-10-25T13:28:04+00:00 Something to note - I was experiencing a similar issue (CPU usage from service host was over 70%), but I noticed the process below it was an HP help process. I ended that, and my service host usage immediately dropped to 0%. Try closing superfluous HP processes and see if it does the trick.
Thanks for your advice, the CPU usage dropped to zero as you said so. =)
