A process called Service Host: Local System is using up all of my laptops resources

My laptop has been running very slowly for the past few days which is weird because my laptop is quite powerful and has always run very fast. I looked at my task manager and saw that a process called Service Host: Local System was using up almost all of my RAM. I am running Windows 8 Pro on a Sony VAIO S13P. What can I do to fix this problem?

    Service Host: Local System.....

    I am having the problem with SH:LS. It uses my 100% network and even doesn't allow Windows Explorer to load my pages freely.

    I am facing the same problem.. every time i start up or wake up my laptop i have to wait for a long time to do anything because my CPU remains busy with svhost.exe ....

    as i have read all the comments it is known for me that this problem is caused by the windows itself, no any harmful software is causing this issue..

    Go to Task Manager > Service's tab > find BITS > right click on that and click stop. It should stop the download, based on my experience.

    "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.  Details are included in the CBS.Log windir/Logs/CBS/CBS.log.  For example C:/Windows/Logs/CBS/CBS.log.  Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios."

    I am almost computer illiterate, does this mean I should go look at the specified directory?  What do I do??
