Hi Wendy,

Sorry for the delay in reply.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  • Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
  • Does the computer recognize any other USB device?

This issue might occur if some system files are not working properly.

Plug in the device and run the hardware troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status.

Follow these steps:

  • Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
  • Type troubleshooting in the search box and then press enter.
  • Click hardware and sound and run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
  • Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status.

Keep us informed to help you further.

Hi,

If your File History drive has been disconnected for too long, or it doesn't have enough space to save temporary versions of your files. To continue saving copies of your files, you'll need to reconnect your File History drive. Plug in your external File History drive or reselect your network. You can start a backup manually or wait for the next scheduled backup.

Hi Wendy,

Thank you for the reply and update.

As you are able to save other things except for File History, let us plug in the drive and perform a full computer virus scan. Ensure to include the drive also for the virus scan.

Sometimes due to virus infection the computer might not act or work as it should. You may perform a full computer virus scan using Windows Defender to ensure that the computer is free from virus.

    How do I do this?

Below your query I saw over 3300 more similar queries which speak of the nightmare created by this bastard enriched on users money and now shifting profits to tax heaven saving tax.I am sure that through his cloud connection he will transfer all his ill gotten wealth to hell where he will surely go>few more things about him:

1.All support.if any , has been contracted to oversea contractors and don't be mislead if local contact numbers/emails  are given because all those will be handled by morons in overseas locations who are far from courteous and competent and then will start asking for money after which also the same crap will be available.Sorry about my writing these generic comments and not directly relevant to your query. Also, they will show you "virtual Agent" to keep wasting your time and then after words offer a personal contact which obviously will be overseas and same crap will start all over again.I have been seriously considering throwing out this crap and start with Mac which though will require training all over again.
