These scammers have nothing to do with Samsung, Microsoft, or this issue (topic) they call everybody. They persuade you to open your computer to them for remote support, and then install malware on your computer for you.

As to the topic, I think, as others have said above, that MASetupCleaner runs once, on reboot after removing KIES, to remove any remnants of the MarkAny 'content safer' service, and is probably safe.

MASetupCleaner.exe looks, according to some of the replies already listed, to be an artifact of a Samsung software product (Kies). Just uninstalled kies, did a restart, and got a UAC flag citing masetupcleaner, that I denied. I decided to search for it by name and ended up here. I would advise never ever ever install any Samsung software, it came stock on this machine. More importantly, don't buy any Samsung products. Their RD department is the absolute worst. Samsung alters their hardware, then have to write proprietary drivers software to get it to work. They do not follow standards. Anything you can find in China works longer and better than Samsung. They RD the **** out of a product to come up with selling points that are unique, like Kies. Problem is when they send 'the next big thing' to market they stop fixing bugs, stop updating drivers for their altered hardware, and start telling customers experiencing problems to do a 'factory reset' or upgrade to a newer device because something on the $1200 device you have does not support it. The fruit guys do the same thing, but at least you can measure their device's usefull life cycle in years not months like Samsung. I am on my second Samsung laptop, 1.5 years after purchase they finally replaced it, but not without a fight. They stopped updating their proprietary driver software package for the AMD6490HD within 6 months of my purchase from the big blue box buy place. Similar problems with the newer laptop that all link back to their proprietary drivers. The same goes for the Siii I have. Talked the pinkT phone company into sending me an SiiiLTE (with newer OS and newer Samsung apps) to try and resolve an intermittent data connection with phone. The SiiiLTE was way worse, in nearly every way. I was able to compare nearly everything between the two phones, side by side. Then I sent it back.

F Samsung, F their developers, F their products, and F their management for hiring douche bags. If I had my way, the next big thing would be my foot in Samsucks azzzz....

I did just find the file in the windows directory, and deleted it. Hopefully that is the last I see of it.

WOW! Do you work for Samsung?

This excerpt just reinforces what I said in this thread. If Samsung has to run more software to remove other software, they really do suck. If it is true, they should tell you when you uninstall the gak that more gak wants to run at the next start to look for old gak to remove. Sounds more like a secret spy to replace the one you just removed.

We can going on ranting about Samsung for ages (which is fully justified because Kies IS a nightmare) but I think we'll have to agree that Samsung will not take action to improve on this no matter how much we complain - if they wanted to, the would have done dumped Kies and restarted from scratch about 300 version updates age (which is about 1,5 years). So I hate to say, but also my solution is not to buy Samsung android devices anymore, I'm now happy with a Motorola Moto G.

I also HAD Kies installed, only today the same notice came up, approx 5 weeks after uninstalling Kies.

Prior to uninstalling, never seen this before. I thought was malware, thanks for the details in this post.

I purchased a HTC M8 One, and now besides Kies, wish I still had a Samsung Phone, The modified software on the device has so many more features that now are missed.

Samsung Wallet, ascending ringtone, scheduled SMS sending, soft keys, home button not next to space button to name a few.
