what is masetupcleaner.exe

I had the same issues with my samsung and then i found airdroid (http://web.airdroid.com/) and my troubles are over. i've uninstalled kies (which took an age to install in the first place) but now that i've rebooted my laptop up popped this MASetupCleaner.exe. and here i am...

I had an hour with Samsung on the phone today. The guy did a remote conection to my PC and helped me get my files off the phone and into my PC through the correct usb driver: I have it but cannot send it to you on here. I got it through Driver Genious Professional installed wich I also wish I could give you.

The best bet is book a phonecall from them on the help page and do the same as me. If you haven't got the USB driver he'll help you get it.

They are posting me a USB key with software in it so that I can sync my phone with the PC.

I complained about KIES and it leaving behind the MASetupCleaner.EXE and he said he's never heard of it. I explained the process etc and I'm a retired IT engineer and he put me on hold for 10mins of music and then came back with the software on the key idea.

If it's found in the wow64 folder then delete it and then run 'regedit' as an administer and look in HC Local machine for the software link. Find the WOW64 folder at the bottom and delete all of MASetupCleaner.EXE. Do the same on 'HC Current user'.

restart your machine and it should be gone.

PS. Look in program files and even though you have uninstalled KIES you will find the program is still there. I can remember if it was just program files or program files86 so check them both. Just delete it.

C:\windows\program files (or 86) if you have a 64bit system you will see the 2.

I wish I had found this page before I had downloaded, installed and had several emails back and forth with Samsung trying to get the Horrid Kies to work..... I am running Windows 8 and have had nothing but trouble with this program crashing and MAsetupcleaner.exe permissions popping up all the time.  After reading all of these posts I have decided not to upgrade my phone to a Samsung Galaxy, which I was really looking forward to getting as I'm really happy with my Samsung Tablet, I am very annoyed that I can't sync my devices with my computer, if anyone can recommend another program that will work with Samsung products and Windows 8 to sync data I would greatly appreciate it.

I installed Samsung Kies yesterday, found it useless and uninstalled it. Immediately after a restart I got the masetupcleaner message. I am using Windows 8 Pro. I have gone through all your posts and removed anything I could find relating to this problem in system folders and the windows registry as well. 

I wasn't satisfied with these changes and decided to do a system restore. Luckily I was prompted to restore the system to a point before Samsung Kies was installed.

To restore your PC using System Restore

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery. 2. Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts.

This is where windows recommends a restore to a point before I installed Samsung Kies.

Thanks for the tip on  airdroid. I'll check it out. I uninstalled Kies after a major let down by Samsung. I kept the Samsung USB entry in Control Panel->Programs - which I may also delete. Jury's out on that one. 

Masetup popped up on restart so I deleted it from WOW64. I also deleted all files in Wow64 that started with "ma" and had Korean chars in Properties ->Details and were installed on the same date. I'll use CCleaner to clean the registry and afterwards check Regedit Local keys manually. It's a bear to delete Kies and don't recommend anyone installing it. Btw, I'm running W7 Sp1 and have a GS3.

When Kies didn't work properly at first, their Support tried to tell me it was a Dell USB problem. I've been supporting enterprise software for 40 years and knew I was working with a novice. When I asked for a supervisor, she hung up on me. I don't need that. Not sure what smart phone/tablet will be my next but pretty sure it won't be Samsung.
