what is masetupcleaner.exe

Similar problem yesterday with my Galaxy S3 and new Windows 8 system. I installed Kies and the USB driver offered at the same time. The phone was not recognised despite going through the error identification routine a couple of time. Is it just a coincidence that shortly afterwards (after I had disconnected my phone from the computer), I received a firmware update to my handset from Samsung ? Paranoia beginning to set in! 

As an aside I also had no joy a while back when trying to make it work with my old Windows XP system.

Would appreciate any update.

I am going to run 'regedit' and remove all to do with Kies. I've had nothing but trouble with the programme and will contact Vodafone because my Galaxy is on contract with them.

To remove the MAsetupcleaner from the startup folder using regedit Start->Run->type "regedit.exe" ->hit ENTER

1)Got to folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 2)->Software 3)->Microsoft 4)->Windows 5)->Current Version 6)->Run OR/AND RunOnce OR/AND RunServices OR/AND RunServicesOnce 7)And remove any entry containing MASetupcleaner.exe from there 8)Do steps 1 to 7 again but start in HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Alternatively you can do the following too:

 Go to Start->Run-> Type MSConfig and look in startup. Uncheck the box before MAsetupcleaner.

MASetupCleaner.exe error is a commonly poppe-up system error that is associated with MASetupCleaner.exe file. MASetupCleaner.exe file is not a critical executable file for system operation, but it is related with certain .dll file and serves as a critical component used for manage certain programs' running situation. In case that you have come across MASetupCleaner.exe error messages on PC screen, you may consider simply disabling it to temporarily get rid of it.

Furthermore, even if MASetupCleaner.exe hasn't been recognized as a major risk for PC performance, it also has the ability to perform dangerous tasks to seriously reduce the system performance.

Causes of Problem:

• Missing, corrupt or incompatible version of MASetupCleaner.exe file
• Damaged or missing dynamic link library files
• Undesired spyware attacks
• Damaged or outdated device driver
• Driver update failure
• Incorrect BIOS configuration
• Corrupt Windows registry

I notied the same thing on Hibernation and now realize it happens to be around the same time as I installed Kies.  Maybe it has malware attached it it which affects hibernation and installs those Masetupcleaner.
