This excerpt just reinforces what I said in this thread. If Samsung has to run more software to remove other software, they really do suck. If it is true, they should tell you when you uninstall the gak that more gak wants to run at the next start to look for old gak to remove. Sounds more like a secret spy to replace the one you just removed.

These scammers have nothing to do with Samsung, Microsoft, or this issue (topic) they call everybody. They persuade you to open your computer to them for remote support, and then install malware on your computer for you.

As to the topic, I think, as others have said above, that MASetupCleaner runs once, on reboot after removing KIES, to remove any remnants of the MarkAny 'content safer' service, and is probably safe.

I also have had calls saying my computer was trying to access the Internet, but I blew the guys off (not very nicely either) as pranksters or hackers.  They identified themselves as Microsoft Support, but they had foreign accents and were not very believable.

Weird ! I desinstalled Kies a couple of days ago, and got the same scammers to call me too. I was stupid and did cut the conversation short, I should have kept them on the line to undertsand what they where trying to have me install (not doing it obviously)

I had also had enough with Samsung Kies as it took forever to update and never worked properly any way so I uninstalled it and then got the MAsetupcleaner.exe pop up which I respectfully declined.

Samsung Kies has to be very high on my list of rubbish software. Why do they allow MA to be bundled in with their software? Has anyone contacted Samsung on this?

I've also uninstalled Samsung Story Teller - whatever that was - just in case that was causing a problem.

Although Kies software is not the issue here - I've never seen such a **** software which makes one of the most popular telephone series almost impossible to use. Fortunately, there are other, actually working mobile phone management software out there. However, I got the masetupcleaner dialogue window after I uninstalled Kies... so uninstalling did not help.
