blue outline on everything i click on

We have Windows 8 now. Ive been trying to figure out how to get rid of the blue box (outline) that shows on everything I click on, and when I type. Its so annoying and when I use some applications and games It is in the way. Can someone please help?

got rid of the blue box by turning off the narrator (cap lock+esc).

It worked for me.

I pressed Cap Lock, and then let go of the button. The cap lock light comes on.

I then press Esc.

The blue outline is gone! Hurray!

There are also different ways to exit Narrator. These are the two shortcuts many people prefer:

  • On a keyboard, press the Windows logo key  +Enter.
  • On a tablet, press the Windows logo button  and Volume Up button together.

i had to press caps lock & esc 3 times nothing will appear until around 5 mins then i tried it worked without indication that the boxes were gone! i hope you find this usful with windows 8!!

    I answered this 30 minutes ago then checked and noticed that there may be some difficulty finding "Control Panel for new users of Windows 10 and secondly that there were slight word changes to some of the labels.  So, I made some modifications to my response in the hopes of making this clearer, so here goes....

    I had the same problem and spoke with  Microsoft Support.

    First get to Control Panel. (To get there if you have Windows 10, go to “Windows System” listed on the lengthy menu of options on the far left of your sign-on screen. Click on Windows System)

    Click on Control Panel.  Then click on Ease of Access Center.

    You will see a box toward the top pf your screen labeled Quick Access to Common tools.  In that box, turn off the tic mark for “Always scan this section”.

    You are finished.

    If you have a different operating system, the following steps may help you:

    So, go to 1) “Control Panel”, then go to 2) “Ease of Use” then 3) then to  “quick access to…, 4) then turn off the tic mark on “Always scan this sect…. “  Originally posted 3/22/18
