Hello YayaFino,
RT devices can only download Windows updates and apps from the Store. I would suggest you try the Google search app from the Store, it has Google search and 14 other Google apps built in (Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Calendar and many more).

I understand that you have issues with downloading Google Chrome.
Google Chrome is available as a desktop application which can be installed only on Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro Operating Systems.
You will not be able to install it on Windows RT devices.

Okay I'm confused so yes if you download Windows RT 8.1 you can download google chrome or not? Also, can you download norton, if not what can you download to keep the system safe?
Unfortunately Google hasn't made a version of Chrome for Rt yet, and I'm not sure they ever will. Mozilla is working on a version of Firefox for Modern - I'm hoping that will run on my Surface RT. IE11 works well enough, but I like to have options.
Windows has an antivirus built-in these days - Windows Defender. Also, the more "locked-down" nature of RT makes it harder for viruses to get into your system in the first place. That's one of the reasons you can only install apps from the store - to reduce the chance of something nasty getting installed because it pretended to be a legitimate program.
That really super stinks and I wish I would have thought to check that BEFORE I bought the Surface RT for I HATE IE and only use Chrome....I really don't want this Surface now. Not sure why you are capable of using it on some models but not all or what the purpose is for that. Doesn't make much sense to me. When using any computer no matter what brand or type you are capable of DLing Chrome so one would never think to inquire as to whether or not you are able to do so on specific models of tablets...just odd to me. I will probably now sell my Surface and stay clear of Microsoft all together from this point forward. Not a happy camper about this!
