Hello YayaFino,

RT devices can only download Windows updates and apps from the Store. I would suggest you try the Google search app from the Store, it has Google search and 14 other Google apps built in (Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Calendar and many more).

Hi,

Thank you for approaching Microsoft Community for assistance.

I understand that you have issues with downloading Google Chrome.

Google Chrome is available as a desktop application which can be installed only on Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro Operating Systems.

You will not be able to install it on Windows RT devices.

Refer to the link for more information.

I hope this answered your question. If you have any other issues with Windows, please do post it in Microsoft Community. We would be happy to help you.

Um, no. The beauty of the Java version is that it is already cross-platform and CPU architecture independent. We don't need another store version...

And the ugliness of it is that is requires Java, which is a major security risk.

I'm quite happy that I don't have Java on my RT, even if that means no Minecraft.

Mojang was able to release Minecraft for iOS, Android and XBox, none of which have Java support. But Notch doesn't like that Win 8 has an app store, so he won't release an RT version. Never mind that iOS, Android and XBox also all use app stores . . .

Good for you that you're happy.

I for one would prefer Windows on ARM to be opened up for developers to be able to develop for it as they do for x86 Windows, store or desktop. Of course Minecraft could be re-written without Java, but why should it be? Every windows device with the exception of the very small number of Windows RT devices can run it as-is. On top of that, since it's Java that also covers OSX and Linux with just one version. It makes no sense to re-write it for windows store.

And back more on topic, why should Google even have to consider rewriting Chrome for windows store (if that was even an option) when again only a very small number of devices would even need such a version?

I'll take a bit more security risk in exchange for a more free and developer-friendly OS. One that Google could actually release a version of Chrome for. I guess I've been spoiled by the so-called RT jailbreak... I know what the OS can do if Microsoft would let it.

Please stop repeating this misinformation. Google may be and do many things, but in this case the fault for the lack of real Chrome on Windows RT 8/8.1 rests almost exclusively on Microsoft. At the most all Google can do is release a wrapper for IE, and only a modern app at that. To get the real Chrome browser on Windows RT two things would need to happen.

google is perfectly happy doing exactly that on iOS. they can do the same on windows.

And exactly how do you know they are "perfectly happy"?? And even if they are in iOS, it doesn't solve the problem that a similar windows store app would still be IE and not Chrome. Reading through this thread I think it's obvious that the people that want Chrome on Windows RT want the real Chrome browser, not a re-skinned version of modern IE.

Also, on a side note: this is the same reason Oracle cannot release Java for Windows RT, which means no Minecraft - something else I've seen many RT owners repeatedly ask about

mojang just needs to make it an app, like they have for plenty other platforms - which also don't run java.

Um, no. The beauty of the Java version is that it is already cross-platform and CPU architecture independent. We don't need another store version...
